Well surprise, surprise – Ultimate Bet look set to keep the $10 million they’ve offered as an extra bonus to anyone winning this years WSOP Main Event. Despite being one of the biggest online poker websites, sponsoring Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth, apparently they’ll only pay out if the eventual WSOP Main Event winner – won their seat at the main event by playing an Ultimate Bet competition.

Reduced odds to win the $10 million.

Whilst there’s still time for some realistic hopefuls to win a place at the WSOP Main Event by playing in an Ultimate Bet poker tournament – time is starting to run out and to date there aren’t too many Ultimate Bet players lined up with a seat secured. Although whoever wins the Main Event will scoop a near $10 million prize and a gold bracelet, that extra $10 million looks sure to stay in the Ultimate Bet coffers for at least another year.

How are the Ultimate bet sponsored players doing this year?

Although Phil Hellmuth sits on top of the all time WSOP rankings with 11 bracelets, an ITM of 73 and earnings of $6,054,988; this year things haven’t been quite so good. So far in WSOP ranking events he’s only scored $35,358 and unless he gets a big WSOP ranking poker win soon, he can’t be considered as a serious contender. Things have gone that badly for Phil this year he’s even below Annie Duke, who is currently on $64,615, which lets face it isn’t exactly setting the world alight either. At the time of writing, for the 2009 WSOP Main Event – Jeffrey Lisandro heads the list with 3 bracelets and $807,521 to his name.
