Playing Poker Legends

Introduction

If you’re the sort of person that puts off taking their vacation until the schools and colleges are all back and you’re a serious poker player too – then you might just fancy a few days in the Bahamas. Of course a few days in the Bahamas is a great idea whether you’re a poker player or not, but there is an extra attraction this year in September for poker players to be there. The reason is that the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, in the Bahamas, is hosting a Poker Legends Challenge event from September 14th to 17th.

What to expect

Men The Master Nguyen - one of the top pros at the Legends Challenge.

Men 'The Master' Nguyen - one of the top pros at the Legends Challenge.

With the likes of Men Nguyen, Annie Duke and Johnny Chan amongst the twenty five top poker pros on hand to play against; there’ll also be poker playing celebrities from other sports such as – NFL’s Troy Aikman, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the NBA, golf’s Rocco Mediate and even ‘Mr Skateboard’ himself – Tony Hawk. The initial format will be no limit Texas No Hold ‘em, playing at a table with at least one poker pro and one sports pro. The second half of the dates gives you an opportunity to enter into the tournament phase when the top players will be paired with one of the sports pros to be coached by a poker pro – playing like a tag team for a $1 million ‘winner-takes- all’ prize. Even better – the final is scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports. If just buying a place at this event outright is beyond your bankroll, look for one of the online poker games offering a route into it via STEP tournaments.

Also on offer

Don’t worry if your poker game’s not that good or if you’ll have non-poker playing partners or friends with you. The poker challenge event and the Atlantis resort itself have plenty more to offer. On the evenings there’ll be poker team socials and parties to attend, including an NFL tailgating party. Needless to say being in the Caribbean there’ll also be lots of cocktail parties not to mention cigar sampling – seeing if you can tell the real deal Cuban cigars from the rest.
