WCOOP Results
Introduction
Started back on September 3rd – the 2009 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) was a 45 event series with prize money totaling, in the end, over $50 million. The series finished with a two day main event, culminating with a final $5200 buy-in no limit hold ‘em game, with a mouth-watering $10 million in prize money itself.
Before the final
Going in to the final game over 100,000 buy-ins had been made by over 43,000 separate customers; which at a minimum buy-in of $109 and one at an eye-watering $25,500 – is a lot of green ones! The first two main events were $1 million prize money games. The first was a relatively cheap $215 buy-in game, eventually won by ElkY (Bertrand Grospellier, the French born UK resident) who pocketed a very reasonable $263,323; with a German – jetkiss and a Norwegian – chilipepp – in second and third respectively with winnings of over $190k and $137k. The penultimate game was a $10,300 buy-in HORSE high roller, won by USA player djk123 who took home, or rather kept at home $232,350. Ozenc a Dutchman came second and another American, NoraFlum was placed third – both picking up checks either side of the $150,000 mark.
The winner is …

Although he’s young Dan Kelly is certainly making a name for himself in the world of poker.
Of course the final winner of the final series wasn’t necessarily going to be the winner of the final game – nor indeed did it turn out that way. On day one of the final main event game, spread over two days, djk123 was top of the leader board with 280 points, followed by ElkY on 255 and g0lfa (Ryan D’Angelo) on 230 in third place. With 2144 players in the field it was, of course, wide open. The eventual winner of the final event was Jovial Gent (American, Yevgeniy Timoshenko) who scooped nearly $1.72 million, with only Dan Kelly (djk123) of the day one Main Event leaders finishing in the top ten. Indeed Dan’s fourth place was enough to secure him the overall points win for the tournament with 330 points and the title – Player of the Series. ElkY and g0lfa finished second and third overall respectively.
